GENERAL FUNCTION
Reporting to and under the general supervision of the Development Managing Engineer, the Permit Technician provides customer service and administrative support at the Public Works and Utilities permit counter, assisting both the public and internal departments. This position is responsible for processing right-of-way and utility permit applications; tracking permit reviews, approvals, and construction activity; preparing and maintaining permit documentation; and coordinating with Engineering staff to support efficient permitting, plan review, and inspection processes. Responsibilities also include reviewing application materials for completeness and accuracy and responding to inquiries related to permitting requirements and procedures. The position requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain attention to detail, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
The hiring range for this position is: $32.40 - $39.67 per hour. This salary includes longevity (1% earned after five years and increases to a maximum of 4% after 20 years).
