Position Title: Managing Director of Urban Accounts
Department: Sales
Reports To: SVP of Sales and Customer Success
Location: Fully remote, with 50% travel
Position Overview
The Managing Director of Urban Accounts will be responsible for driving large Urban District level sales within target states. This role involves building and nurturing relationships with Urban Districts by tailoring sales materials to specific prospects, guiding them through product demonstrations, and ensuring they understand how Learning.com’s products and services meet their needs/goals. The Managing Director of Urban Accounts will be responsible for driving revenue growth through strategic account management and new customer acquisition. Functioning as part of a collaborative pod structure, they will work closely with our marketing, product development, and customer success teams to ensure the evolving needs of our customers are met.
Key Responsibilities
Account Management and Relationship Building
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers within targeted Urban School Districts.
- Regularly communicate with targeted Urban School Districts to understand their specific challenges and needs, tailoring solutions to drive successful outcomes.
- Attend targeted Urban District functions/events and conduct prospect-specific research to build rapport and credibility among targeted Urban District leaders.
- Execute on identified upsell opportunities at renewal.
- Identify and manage external door openers and lobbyists to support outreach.
New Business Development
- Maintain a deep understanding of our products and services. Articulate the value proposition and differentiate our offerings from competitors.
- Identify and pursue targeted Urban District sales opportunities. Use a consultative sales approach to present our solutions to potential clients.
Collaboration and Coordination
- Collaborate with the sales leadership team to develop and execute strategic sales plans aimed at achieving revenue targets.
- Work closely with the Marketing and Product teams to align on messaging and sales collateral. Provide feedback on market needs and trends to help shape product development.
- As part of pod structure, partner with marketing and the Customer Success team to ensure seamless onboarding and implementation of our solutions in addition to pursuing upsell opportunities at renewal.
Research and Analytics
- Manage and update the sales pipeline using Learning.com’s Salesforce system, ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting on sales activity and progress.
- Provide regular updates to the SVP of Sales and Customer Success, CFO/COO, and CEO.
- Conduct detailed customer needs/goals research on targeted Urban District programs.
- Track market trends and competitor activity to inform sales strategies.
- Utilize insights from Urban District interactions to inform and refine the sales strategy.
Required Skills
Account Management and Sales Expertise
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage and influence Urban School Districts.
- Ability to identify various funding sources within the Urban School District
- Ability to negotiate complex sales agreements.
- Experience identifying and managing external door openers/lobbyists
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
- Excellent written and verbal skills, capable of conveying the value of our products to Urban District leaders.
- Skilled in negotiating contracts and closing deals.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Ability to articulate value proposition to leadership in Urban School Districts.
Strategic Thinking and Problem-Solving
- Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to develop and execute complex sales, often with multiple stakeholders in mind.
- Excellent creative problem-solving skills, with a focus on tailoring solutions to meet customer needs.
Organization and Time Management
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple district accounts and priorities effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative pod in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Education, or equivalent experience;
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in enterprise sales within the K-12 education sector.
- Familiarity with the challenges faced by urban school districts and the ability to recommend appropriate solutions.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
Salary
The annual salary for the Manager Director, Urban Accounts will start at $140K + commission, commensurate with experience and qualifications. OTE $280
