Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and technically confident professional to join our team as Operations & Production Supervisor. This role serves as the first-line operational lead for Classical KING’s broadcast service and is responsible for the daily readiness, stability, and coordination of our production environment.
Reporting to the Program Director, this position oversees broadcast operations, studio readiness, production workflows, and scheduling systems to ensure consistent, high-quality programming across FM and digital platforms. The Operations & Production Supervisor assesses and stabilizes operational issues when they arise, escalates appropriately to engineering or leadership, and helps maintain continuity of service in a live broadcast environment.
This is a hands-on, primarily onsite role requiring comfort with studio equipment, digital audio workstations, broadcast automation systems, and signal flow basics. In addition to operational oversight, the role assists in the production of on-air features and collaborates across teams to strengthen processes and documentation.
The ideal candidate combines systems thinking with practical technical skills, communicates calmly under pressure, and brings both precision, accuracy and care to the delivery of classical music programming.
Key Responsibilities:
· Oversee daily broadcast operations to ensure schedule accuracy, production workflow integrity, and overall on-air readiness.
· Coordinate production resources, including studio scheduling, equipment allocation, and staff assignments, ensuring deadlines and completing daily tasks efficiently.
· Serve as first-line operational lead during live and pre-recorded broadcasts: assess issues, stabilize when possible, and escalate appropriately to engineering or leadership to protect broadcast continuity.
· Maintain and manage the station’s broadcast log, playlist systems, recurring operational schedules, and other routine requirements with precision, consistency, and follow-through.
· Assemble and support pre-recorded live and programs, ensuring technical quality and regulatory compliance.
· Maintain studio functionality by troubleshooting equipment, monitoring signal flow, coordinating vendor or contractor repairs, and recommending operational equipment improvements.
· Build, refine, and maintain documentation, operational logs, and production databases to strengthen consistency and reduce single points of failure.
· Execute routine operational tasks with efficiency and reliability while identifying opportunities to improve workflows and strengthen systems over time.
· Serve as point of contact for listener inquiries in technical support, responding with professionalism and alignment with the station’s mission.
· Support fundraising broadcasts, special productions, and station events as operational lead when required.
Qualifications:
· Demonstrated experience in live radio broadcast operations, production management, or a comparable environment.
· Hands-on experience operating audio boards and supporting live environments.
· Working knowledge of broadcast automation systems (e.g., Zetta or similar platforms) and playlist/log management preferred.
· Practical understanding of studio signal flow, audio equipment troubleshooting, and coordination with engineering vendors or contractors.
· Proven ability to manage recurring operational tasks with accuracy, consistency, and strong follow-through.
· Experience coordinating schedules, production workflows, and shared technical resources in a deadline-driven environment.
· Strong systems thinking skills with the ability to improve processes while reliably executing routine operational responsibilities.
· Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to respond to listener inquiries and represent the station appropriately.
· Working familiarity with classical music programming and a commitment to public media values.
Comfort working primarily onsite in a live studio environment, with flexibility for occasional evenings or weekends as required.
Bachelor’s degree in broadcasting, communications, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
Compensation and Work Environment
· Full-time, hourly position.
· This position requires consistent on-site presence to support live broadcast operations, studio readiness, and production coordination.
· Benefits include health, dental, vision, retirement contributions, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
Application Process
Candidates are invited to apply by emailing one PDF document that includes:
· A cover letter outlining your interest in the position and relevant experience
· A resume
· A list of three professional references
Selected applicants will be asked to complete short written responses to scenario-based questions related to live broadcast operations, workflow management, and listener communication.
